[Sat 30th May] A' vs Grads Red (Cup)

Scotch A’s 4 – 0 Grads Red A Goals: Chris, Matty L, Andy T, Gammy A replay of last years cup quarter final saw us up a against a very different looking Grads Red side. Due to an initial no-show, the game was started with a Grads Red referee, only to have the official referee show up several minutes into the game. Play continued and Grads Red looked good from the start, playing the ball well through the centre of the midfield. A couple of half chances went begging at either end until a free kick from Dain found Matty L on the left wing. Matty crossed the ball in low and the keeper fumbled into the path of a grateful Chris, who poked the ball home. From that point on, the Grads boys dropped their heads and the balance of play shifted to the Scotchies. Toby entered the game for an injured Dain and had an immediate impact in helping to control the midfield. A great through ball from Dunsy and a good switch of play saw Matty L and Andy T both get their names on the scoresheet with clinical finishes. Gammy was introduced for the final few minutes and also grabbed himself a goal with a well placed header off a perfect cross. 4-0 at the close, a result that closely mirrored last years 4-1 thrashing. Good to see the Grads boys have lost none of their charm, with their tubby elbow throwing midfielder no exception. Best: 3 Dunsy, 2 Matty L, 1 Toby

[Sat 23rd May] Scotch vs Uni Black (Home)

Scotch B 1 – 4 Uni Black B Goal: Sam For the second time this season we had a near full squad available for selection with Rooney, Tully and newcomer Jarrod joining the B’s line-up. The first half was a fairly scrappy affair, with lots of attacking and very minimal defending by both teams. They scored first after a good save from Dave fell to the feet of one of their strikers. Not long after, Toby somehow managed to get a cross in from the left corner which flew straight to Sam at the 6 yard box. Sam controlled and finished brilliantly, giving him his first goal for the season. The remainder of the game saw numerous chances both ways, but where the Scotchies were unlucky, the Uni Blacks managed to convert their chances. Best: 3 Sam, 2 Catton, 1 Rooney Scotch A 5 – 0 Uni Black A Goals: Chris (2), Timmy, Mike, Jake The A's came into the game on the back of two much needed wins and we were keen to get on top early. A flick on from Quinny found chris in the box who slammed a left footed volley through the keepers hands. Timmy followed this up with a powerful shot which found its way into the net via a hefty deflection. The remainder of the first half was more tightly contested, with Uni Black holding the ball well through the midfield and Ferg and Dain running well to limit their chances moving forward. The second half started evenly, until we scored a free kick with Dunsy jumping out of the way at the last second. The game was capped off by a great header from Jake and a amazing spinning shot from Mike that spun its way from the keepers hands over the goal line! 5-0 was a bit flattering in the end but it was great to get our third win in a row for the season. [25th Apr] vs Mercedes (Away)

Scotch B’s 0 – 6 Mercedes B’s  A wet and windy day greeted us at the home of Mercedes with our hastily erected tent providing little shelter as the rain was near horizontal! It was always going to be a tough day for the Scotchie boys with no less than 10 players out injured or unavailable. The game started well for us, with Dain coming close as the keeper came off his line and a desperate defender clattered into post while clearing. From that point it became pretty much one way traffic with Mercedes knocking in several goals before halftime. The second half continued in the same fashion apart from Chris missing a penalty. A tough game that showed glimpses of promise, lets bounce back with a big win against Sacred Heart next week. Best: 3 Josh, 2 Paul, 1 Pandy   Scotch A’s 0 -1 Mercedes A’s The weather remarkably cleared for the duration of the A’s game and apart from one section of muddiness the pitch was still in pretty good condition. Once again, this was going to be a hard game with 6 players having to play the majority of both games. Despite this, we played well with a good chance early after some great wide play by Matty L, suggestions of a handball in the box were waved away by the referee. A slight defensive lapse resulted in the lone goal in the match to Mercedes. Chris had a couple of golden opportunities to pull one back, but couldn’t convert. The second half saw us push numbers forward in an attempt to grab an equaliser. We had a couple of free kicks in dangerous positions which were both wasted and Paul made some good saves as they hit back on the counter. All in all, a pretty even game that could have easily ended up as a draw. Best: 3 QC, 2 Dunsy, 1 Ben

Round 10 Scotch vs Uni Black Saturday 28th June 2008 A Grade Scotch 4 - 2 Uni Black It was a game that we were expecting to win and all in all we did our job very convincingly. We had all of the ball and several brilliant chances that we wasted in the opening 20 minutes that could have put the game out of reach already, but we only snagged one of those chances when Fergie cleverly rounded both their left full back and keeper to easily slot the ball into the net. Uni black quite quickly then caught us on the break with one of their first attacks to make it 1-1 with 25 minutes gone. Dunsy repayed the favour Chrissa gave him last week by putting in a wonderful ball from the left following a corner that Chris slotted in with his head. 2-1 at the break. The second half saw us go 3-1 up with 15 minutes gone when Matty scored a cracker volley from 20 yards, that makes two this year!!!!! He then got his second 10 minutes later when some excellent work down the right from Fergie and a square ball across the 6yard box left an easy tap in for Matty. With 10 minutes to go we had an unfortunate own-goal deflected header (thanks Geordie!!!) to give Uni Black their second. Considering Rooney missed 3 or 4 chances he would normally bury, and Welly miscalculating a couple close chances he has been slotting regularly, the game could have been a much bigger blow-out. But to Uni Blacks credit they hung in there and used their well-known pace and individual skill to good effect at times. Overall Matty was unstoppable down the left all day, Eirik was dominant as holding midfielder, Fergie and Chrissa were always involved and looking dangerous, and Gazza pulled out some great punches from dangerous crosses that otherwise could have been more threatening. Disappointingly, and probably more due to the fact the ref failed to blow his whistle on many obvious and quite rough fouls that would normally see yellow cards, the game came to a forced end through abandonment with two minutes to play. Following another unnecessary and cynical foul on Chrissa, there were a some words said and a few pushes given by both teams as we were frustrated at the regularity of the unpunished poor fouls against us. We are not shirting any of the blame for the situation to this point, but this then sadly escalated when the Uni Black captain got very physical and grabbed one of our players in a headlock and Uni Black fans from the sideline ran on getting involved for no reason. A disappointing was to end the game considering most of it was played in good spirit, and a scene that Uni Black, and especially their captain, should certainly not be proud of. 3 votes: Matty 2 votes: Fergie 1 vote: Eirik B Grade Scotch 0 - 2 Uni Black Aaargh!! Another disappointing result for us!!! And another game that we started very slowly in again being very flustered and rushed to go forward with the ball. Understandably it didn't help having several players become doubtful for a start throughout the morning due to illness and injury, and meaning several early changes were forced upon us through the 1st half due to guys not being able to continue. To Uni Blacks credit they played the much better soccer for the most part, and it wasn't until the last 20 minutes when we were 2-0 down that we had control of possession and started to create several dangerous chances. 3 votes: Chan 2 votes: Paul 1 vote: Willy

Round 9 Scotch vs Mercedes Saturday 21st June 2008 A Grade Scotch 4 - 3 Mercedes Brilliant effort boys!! Nothing less than we deserved with the overall control we had on the game and the number of chances that we created. Overall a very balanced and intense performance by all 14 players. Our main aim now is definitely to maintain this form and ensure we can get some consistency with our performances as we know we can account for anyone on our day. Mercedes had a younger and slightly different lineup to their dominating team of last year, but still one we obviously didn't think we would be able to score four goals past. In the 1st 20 minutes we had all of the play and came out firing and this gave us lots of confidence, but two solitary quick breaks coupled with some open defending and clinical finishing we were suddenly 2-0 down. We continued to attack well with our 4-3-3 and had a couple of very good chances cleared from the line, before some lovely work and ball in from the left from Chrissa found Dunsy unmarked to bullet a header in at the near post. What happened a few minutes after this kept us in the game and made us continue our push, when Gazza pulled out a great penalty save against Forster just before half time to keep it at 2-1. Things could have been even better in the last 5 minutes of the half when Dunsy hit the post from another header and Chrissa has a clever shot cleared off of the line. The second half was played with as much if not more intensity than the 1st from both teams, and again saw us miss several golden chances to tie the game. We did get the equaliser when a long shot from Fergie, that Dunsy (who is meant to be a centre back remember!! :o) ) cleverly deflected past the wrong-footed keeper to make it 2-2. Mercedes then made us pay for some sloppy defending on the left that left us out numbered in the middle and scored to make it 2-3 with 20 minutes to play. To our credit no one dropped their head and continued to push, spurred on by our number of previous missed chances and control of the midfield especially. We then drew level with 15minutes to play following some nice build up play through Welly on the right who found Chrissa at the top of the box, who turned well and slotted the ball low past the keeper to his right. 3-3 and the game was there for the taking! In a fast paced last 10 minutes from both teams, it was Chrissa that was the difference for us again, who perfectly smacked a 22yard free kick on his left into the top left corner leaving the keeper no chance. What an awesome way to claim the lead!! Nice work mate!! The last 5 minutes was tense as we dropped five back into the midfield to hold on, with Mercedes bombing the ball forward at any stage to put us under pressure in the dying seconds. To our credit we kept our concentration and held on for a very important win for us. It was a very even performance all over the pitch for us and everyone played their part in getting their result. Apart from a couple of early lapses in the beginning and a clumsy penalty give-away our defence was strong, especially in the air. Gazza was strong in goals all day with several important saves, none more so than the penalty to keep us in the game. Our midfield had the better out of the two teams that was highlighted by Chrissa's two goals and an assist. We looked very dangerous all day up front with Matty and Welly running at the defense all day, and with Rooney doing some incredible link work and being an option and a massive impact for us all day. At 1-0 down at half time we definitely still looked in the match, especially considering we had 3 clear-cut chances in the opening 15 minutes that could have made things very different! It was unfortunately a 15minute patch lack of concentration halfway through the 2nd half again that was our undoing, where 3 quick goals were conceded and put the game clearly out of our reach. Round 8 Scotch vs Uni White Saturday June 14th 2008 A Grade Scotch 1 - 0 Uni White It was good to get back on the winners list in the league after dropping vital points in the last two matches. The game was set up early with impressive full pitch pressure being employed, especially by Matty, Rooney and Welly up front, that created the opening goal. Great effort boys. Welly cooly slotted the ball past the keeper to add another to his growing tally. Nice work mate! Everyone continued to follow the brilliant work effort and we had the ball flowing very quickly and effectively, and were unlucky not to get another couple, especially with Mattys that somehow flashed past the post and Welly pulling an awesome save out of the keeper low to his right to keep the White's in the game. Our midfield and defensive dominance meant we did not looked very troubled all day, with Gazza not having to complete a single save. It was good to see Gabe get through his normal array of testing tackles!! :o) and I think this week Geordie can do some work on his set pieces!! Congrats to Risky for having his 1st A's game and doing impressively well. Admittedly we had a slow first 20 minutes that lead to the goal, but other than that we had an even share of possession and definitely the better of the 2nd half chances that we unfortunately could not take advantage from, both due to poor finishing and some 'interesting' decisions made by the ref, that to be fair had both teams wondering if we were playing netball or soccer. Saturday May 24th 2008 - Round 6: Scotch vs Rostrevor

Round 6 Report Scotch vs Rostrevor May 24th 2008 A Grade Scotch 2 - 4 Rostrevor After a very convincing start and leading 2-1 with 20 minutes gone on the 2nd half, it was very disappointing to be over-run and beaten. Compliments to ROC's defensive strength and their speed up font. Again we showed periods throughout the game where we dominated but couldn't increase our score on the board with several shots flashing inches wide. Good belief shown by the bulk of the group to continue fighting the entire 2nd half, and it now gives three games in the next three weeks against the other top 4 teams where we can get back to our selfless work ethic and cement our spot in the top two. 3 votes: Geordie 2 votes: Johnny 1 vote: Chrissa (ref's votes) B Grade Scotch 2 - 4 Rostrevor It was always going t be a very tough assignment against the B1 leaders and a team that are putting in copius amounts of goals against their opponents every week. Cup Round 1 Report May 17th 2008 A Grade Scotch vs Uni Black A's B Grade Scotch vs Immanuel B's A Grade Scotch 2 - 1 Uni Black A's A convincing performance overall and a game that we controlled and were definitely the dominant team in. It was always going to be a little difficult game against a team that is growing in confidence with some improved results of late, and the fact that we also had four players unavailable and another couple playing that were very unwell, so thanks for the effort! Two very nice strikes from Chrissa and Welly from good team build up cemented the result. B Grade Scotch 0 - 3 Immanuel A game that had everything from missed penalties, send-off's, scuffles, major injuries and goals, and unfortunately we were on the wrong side of most of them!! Good character shown in the end to continue fighting undermanned for the whole 90 minutes boys, and unfortunately didn't get anything out of it. Great game had especially by Pandy, Dain and Ricky

Round 5 Report Scotch vs Immanuel May 10th 2008 A Grade Scotch 2 - 2 Immanuel Overall a very disappointing result for the boys, more so for the way we played and not so much for the result. Credit to Immanuel for continuing to pressure us all over the pitch for the whole 90 minutes. We seemed to be flat for the majority of the game and did not utilize our normal game plan with our wide players. Positive notes were our defensive shape, and we were unlucky to suffer an own goal from a deflected defensive header with 10 minutes to play. Goals went to a cooly slotted penalty from captain Johnny, and a cracker from Welly, nice work boys!!! Hopefully Dunsy has a speedy recovery from a knee injury. Again a half dozen changes to the line-up didn't help, along with another sloppy 20 minute patch in the middle of the game. However, a good debut was had to Martin and Mugel. Thanks for staying patient for your 1st game guys, you both played very well!! At this stage we still feel that we need to choose the team on merit of who attends training week to week and who has paid subs, but we will discuss this very soon if we continue to suffer big results like this. Credit to Immanuel for definitely showing a very strong performance over the entire game, and for some last gasp defending in the 1st 15 minutes when we had several good chances. A massive thankyou to Deano who won't be playing any more matches for us now as he plans to move back over to the USA again. Saturday May 3rd 2008 - Round 4: Scotch vs CBC

Round 4 Report Scotch vs CBC May 3rd 2008 A Grade Scotch 5 - 1 CBC A very dominant performance overall, so well done again boys. 3-0 after the 1st 20 minutes put the game beyond doubt early. Over the course of the game it was very pleasing that we again were always in control at the back, dominated the midfield and looked dangerous going forward every time. To be fair we could easily have had a few more (no mention of Chris' misses!! haha), but to CBC's credit they continued to push the entire game and snagged a scrappy goal late in the game. Goal of the day went to a 25 yard SSCCRREEAAMMEERRRR!!! volley from young Matty from out on the left, sweet effort mate! Max, Chris and Matty were instrumental up front all day and either scored or set up each of the goals brilliantly. Top day's work. Defense was intense as always and initiated plays all day, with the midfield staying very organised again. Thank you to everyone for staying motivated and positive with the rotation of players and weekly changes that I realise can become very unsettling and frustrating. It was really a game of contrasting halves, with Scotch having the better of the 1st leading 2-0 at half time, and CBC definitely having the majority of possession and chances in the 2nd half and all in all were a little unlucky not to score again, but credit due to our defenders infighting for every last inch. Our two goals were of great quality and team play that the boys should be happy about. April 18th 2008 - Round 3: Unley vs Scotch

Round 3 Report Unley vs Scotch April 19th 2008 A Grade Unley 1 - 3 Scotch All in all a very convincing win all over the park. Big positives were our midfield dominance and structure, our physical presence, and our defensive effectiveness both on the ground and in the air, especially during the final 25 minutes when we gave away an unfortunate penalty and were down to 10 men and needed to shuffle the line-up. Our use of our wide two players and the work effort and dominance of Max and Chrissa was 1st class, as was the impact of Welly upfront. Ravo was strong between the sticks and our defensive line were very disciplined and effective on the ball. Impressive and seamless effort by the boys off of the bench also. Goals went to a deflected cracker from Fergie, from the head of Dunsy following a dazzling run from the back, and a blistering run from Welly with a great finish. April 12th 2008 - Round 2: Sacred Heart vs Scotch

Round 2 Report Sacred Heart vs Scotch April 12th 2008 A Grade Sacred Heart 2 - 0 Scotch A disappointing result considering the game was very even for the 90 minutes. A stand-out performance again from Matty Duns, with Maxie and Dan Adams also doing very well down the left. We were unfortunately over-run too often in the midfield that in the end was the difference. A great positive was the 1st team debut of Matty and Chan who did very well off of the bench. Thanks also to Al for keeping unexpectedly! Very evenly matched game overall but SH took their chances much better. April 5th 2008 - Round 1: Uni Black vs Scotch

Round 1 Report: University Black vs Scotch April 5th 2008 A Grade: Uni Black 4 - 7 Scotch Generally very convincing performance with excellent attacking flair. A little disappointing to concede 4 goals considering we were 4-0 up within 25 minutes. Plenty to work on but a great way to kick off the year!! Notable mentions to Welly for smashing in 4 goals before being subbed in the 1st half, to Chris for grabbing a double and running havoc down the left, and to Matty Duns for being so dominant at the back. 3 votes: Matty Duns 2 votes: Chris Rodgers 1 vote: Welly B Grade: Uni Black 3 - 1 Scotch Oh what could have been hey boys!! Overall a wonderful performance and strides above where we were at the end of last year. We just need to learn how to finish!! With 4 one-on-ones missed and at least 4 crossbar/posts hit we deserved more, especially considering the majority of these were in the first 30 minutes. Great fitness. 15th September 2007 - Round 22: Scotch vs Immanuel

A1: Scotch 0 - 1 Immanuel B1: Scotch 3 - 3 Immanuel It was a bit of a dissapointing day result wise for us today for different reasons for both teams. The B's somehow managed to squander a 3-0 lead from the 1st half to end up drawing, and the A's again managed to totally dominate a game but be unable to find the back of the net with a heap of golden chances going begging once again. Chin up though! :o) The B's opened with a blaze of glory and were 3-0 up within the 1st 30 minutes, following two great thunderbolt strikes from Matty Lynagh, and a 30 yard stunner from Frenchie Fabs. Unfortunately we lost our way a little in the 2nd half, and following a penalty and two lucky goals it was all square. Boys a massive thankyou to you all for the efforts this year though!! It didn't help only oranising the team a week before the start of the season and only half the team having played outdoor football before, and we have been under the pump all year against better teams and you have improved weekly without doubt and can be very proud of what you have achieved team wise and for the spirit that has remained throughout the team for the entire year. I hadn't experienced anything like that before. With a good preseason under our belt and a few extra players next year will be considerably more successful result wise. Well done and thankyou! Thanks also to all of the A's boys, with such an unsure line-up for most of the season and weekly changes plus people playing with injury, thankyou for the effort you have put in the the spirit that has been among us for the year. Lets be honest, we didin't do the best but it was a bloody fun year!! Apart from our 1st five games (1 draw, 4 losses = 1 point!!) we did do very well and climbed our way up the table week by week from the bottom and should be proud. Today was a little dissapointing dominating and having possession like we did but again lacking that final touch into goal, which to be honest we should have been able to do with the amount of chances we had!! :o) Immanuel though are great fighters and have great spirit and their season of improvement probably deserved them a win also so well done to them. It was a physically tough match played in fair spirits (mostly!) and was a good season finiser, apart from the fact we lost! :o) Thankyou to the Immanuel boys for their hospitality after the game with BBQ and drinks, it was very appreciated! Thankyou for the year fellas..... much more to offer next year with more sponsorship, more school support, better club structure, a very decent pre-season and a few new talented faces, so I hope all of you are out there for 2008!!!! 8th September 2007 - Round 21: Scotch vs Grads Red

A1: Scotch 4 - 1 Grads Red B1: Scotch 0 -3 Grads Red A1 Summary All in all a very convincing win and one that puts us another place higher on the table, so well done boys! We started the game well and after about 15 minues of good pssession Fergie let one fly from 25 yards out on the left and watched it fly perfectly into the top right corner. Awesome strike!! And it didn't even take a deflection mate!! :o) Soon after that Max was brought down in the box, but Paps misses the penalty with a good save by the keeper. 2nd penalty miss!!! :o) I guess I wont be taking any more!! haha We then did put the second on the board following some great play down the left by Max, who after a nice interplay of passes with Paps and Paul got the ball to Eirik, who turned sharply in the box and slammed the ball past the keeper at his near post. Lovely team goal! We then went to sleep all over the park for the last 10 minutes of the half, and Grads Red snuck one back following a quick counter attack that left us out numbered at the back. 2-1 at the break. Again we had the bulk of the chances and possession in the second half, with Paul, Fergie, Eirik, Clop and Paps all having several good shots that werre narrowly wide or well saved. We went 3-1 when Geordie got a lovely long ball out to Max, put in a nice cross from the right that was cleared tentatively to the top left corner of the box to Paps, who cut inside and slotted it home across the keeper. The fourth came following more pressure, where a nice through ball to Eirik had him calmly slot the ball around the keeper who was rushing off of his line. 4-1. The back four looked solid as usual today, with Mitris and Eric providing plenty of run, and John and Geordie starting the majority of plays while being very solid and tough at the same time. Fergie and Clop both had dominating games in the middle of the park, and were unlucky not to get more goals betwen them, and both played well despite carrying injuries. Paul was in the game all day up front but couldn't quite get ont the end of one, but played the provider role very well. Max was again very creative and attacking out wide, with Eirik topping off a neat little game with two goals and an assist!! Well done boys. B1 Summary In a game we were exeecting to do well from, we unfortunalely never really got into it and couldn't find the back of the net again following several great chances!!! :o) The game was at 1-0 for a long time from the 1st into the 2nd half, but then a flurry of late goals killed the game for us. Credit goes to Grads Red for a good display however.

1st September 2007 - Round 20: Scotch vs Pembroke

A1: Scotch 1 - 2 Pembroke B1: Scotch 0 - 5 Pembroke Firstly, a massive thankyou to everyone that came out to be part of the Family and Friends day for Scotch, we all really appreciated the number of people that made the effort to come and support the boys. Apart from the results on the pitch, it was a great day and I hope everyone enjoyed the food, drinks and music!! It was awesome to have so many people out watching. Please feel welcome any stage to come out and watch the boys and show your support again. Many thanks!!! A1 Summary Everyone that watched the game would agree that we definitely shouldn't have lost the match and Pembroke were very lucky to win, however they are not 4th for no reason. Scotch definitely held the majority of posession and had easily the bulk of scoring chances over the course of the day but were denied by the frame a couple of times and by some unlucky finishing in general. We went down 1-0 about 30 minutes in following holding all of the play, when a long free kick into the box took a wicked bounce off of the hard surface and wrong footed Dietmar in goals, who saw the ball bounce over his shoulder in to the back of the net. The game stayed at 1-0 for the majority of the match until Paps found the net with a long range effort about 20 minutes from time that beat the keeoper to his right. With the scores at 1-1 Fergie hit the bar, Clop had a diving header that somehow didn't go in, Waz squandered a 1 on 1 with the keeper, Paps hit the post and Paul had a couple of chanmces that just didn't sit right for him. What could have been!! :o) Following all of this and from another free kick at the other end that was well kept out by Dietmar, the ball unfortunately fell to the feet of a Pembroke player who tapped it in from a few yards to make it 2-1. Dietmar was strong again, Geordie was chopped and changed several times at the back but had a very good, solid game, Eirik was creative as usual, with Clop and Fergie controlling the ball in the middle of the park with out much haassle for most of the game. Chris unfortunately sustained what looks like a serious aknle injury early into the first half and this will leave a big hole in our defence to cover if he can't play the remaining games. Paul was in the mix all day up front but unfortunately couldn't quite find that killer punch to finish today. Max had a great game out wide and was a large contributer to the dominance our midfield had. Our next two games against Grads Red and Immanuel are must wins if we are to grab another spot on the ladder. Well done today though, it was an enjoyable game on a great day, and all I can say is that the score could have been much different! B1 Summary Today we were beaten quite convincingly by a quicker and more experienced team, although we showed great fight as usual and created some good chances we unfortunately couldn't make the most of. It didn't make it easy missing our two regular centrebacks and our two regular centre midfielders through injury and other commitments, so credit needs to go to everyone for the display you put on. Notable mentions need to go to Nathan Pana for the work he has done since only coming out a few weeks ago and being thrown in the deeop end!!! Wellk done mate! And to Jassa and Josh for their continual leadership and commitment to the boys when the going gets tough and in setting up creative plays. It was also great to see Alastair finally get through a full game without injury!!! :o) Well done boys.

Full BBQ (food supplied by our master chef from the Ed Mr Johnny McQueen), and drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) will be provided for free Come and support the team for their final home game of the year and see what the new team is all about. 18th August 2007 - Round 18: Scotch vs PAC

A1: Scotch 1 - 1 PAC B1: Scotch 2 - 2 PAC A1 Summary In a game that we were very confident of winning, it ended up being a dissapointing day with a genereally uninspiring draw considering our recent form and results. The most interesting part of the first half was the fact we were all down each others throat!! Oh well, I guess the positive out of that was the fact we were frustrated at how we were playing and trying to gee each other up. Something that should never happen again though!! We had the bulk of posession of the first 30 minutes and managed to score a nice goal through a well constructed in-direct free kick from inside the box when Paps found a nice diagonal run to the back post from Max for him to tap in and make it 1-0. The rest of the half had Scotch still holding most of the posession but not being able to utilise it properly, giving it away on the most part trying to attack too quickly. The PAC goal come about 20 minutes from the half with an unfortunate long clearance that rebounded off of the chest of the PAC forward who trundled in and slotted it around Dietmar. 1-1. We played a lot more clinical in the 2nd half, and although the game remained scrappy at times, we held more of the posession again and had all of the main scoring opportunities but unfortunately couldn't find the back of the net from several chances that should have been taken. The highlight of the day would have been Clop's left foot curler from about 30 yards on a tight angle that somehow went the wrong side of the upright as the keeper had been stranded off his line. The back four again looked very strong and were generally untroubled for the majority of the game, and again were the catalyst for our attacking play. Thanks to Clop and Jordan for both playing with injuries and somehow making it through!! Dietmar only had a couple of tough saves to make throughout the game, but did them both very well and again was strong between the sticks. Mitris was very effective out wide until he went off injured with a knee that we hope will pull up OK following an awkward challenge, and Max was again a good workhorse and put in some dangerous balls from the right. Clop and Ferge were consistent in the middle, but we all struggled to find that final decisive ball to make the difference. Most votes go however to the boys at the back for their continual strength indefence and their ability to start the play with accurate balls. 3 votes: John McQueen 2 votes: Eirik Sandvik 1 vote: Andrew Clopper B1 Summary The game started very promising again for the B's, coming out of the blocks flying again for the 3rd week in a row, and having all of the early possession. The first goal came from a lovely free kick from the right from Al after Will had been fouled making another good run down the right, with Fabs getting his pretty French noggen onto the end of it and heading it home!! 1-0. PAC scored the next two goals, both from some sloppy defending but also from some continual pressure on our back line that failed to clear its line on several dangerous occasions. Our most positive asopect of the past few weeks is our ability to now hold posession of the ball for much longer and more controlled, and the fact we are creating many chances each game and hence putting a lot more goals away. The only dissapointing thiong of today was the fact we were quite soft in a lot of tackles and let PAC have it a little easy in our defensive box a couple of times. Well done though to keep fighting and to snatch a late equaliser, one that was very deserved, with Big Bad Bussling Chrissy Rogers coming off the bench to help out and again getting his name on the score sheeet, this time with a very nice goal from the left inside the box on a tight angle!! Cheers mate!! Big announcement that our new B's captain and bright green armband (thanks Chris!!) has gone to Mr Joshie "Munch" Millard for the remainder of the season, and I'm sure everyone would agree that no-one deserves it more. 11th August 2007 - Round 17: Scotch v Sacred Heart

A1: Scotch 2 - 1 Sacred Heart B1: Scotch 1 - 0 Sacred Heart A1 Summary Well well well, another win on the trot for the Scotchie boys hey!! In a good rivalry that has always been close faught both through the A2's for previous years and the A1's this year, the Scotch and Sacred Heart derby was again a close faught encounter, with Scotch coming out on top this time! Baard made his return into the team this week up front and played well considering his less than perfect knee, with Patty, Jordan and Clop all out from last week with injury. The last month has seen us hit hard again with injury, now totalling 14 boys! Thanks to Chris again for DOMINATING in both games again, and for those that are playing out of position and doing extra workload with such a thin squad. Anyway, the game got off to an even start, with possession shared and chances sparce early on a pitch that was finally not muddy!! Mitris scored the first about 20minutes into the first half following a wonderful long diagonal ball from Fergie from the left, that found Mitris about 22 yards out on a slight angle. He took a touch then hit the ball very sweetly on the half volley low and hard to the keepers left, who was beaten with the pace from distance and had the ball skid in below his arms. Great strike mate! 10 minutes later following a good period of pressure from scotch from out wide with Max and Mitris, Sacred Heart caught us on the break and played the ball sweetly down the centre then out to the left around the back of our defence which they are very good at as part of thier game plan, then finished the move with a sweet strike across Dietmar into the bottom far corner. 1-1. It stayed like that until half time, after Dietmar had pulled off a couple of great saves again from a short distance, and both Sacred Heart and Scotch missing a couple of easier chances they normally may score but put over the bar, but with Sacred Heart genreally having the best of the final 20 minutes with Scotch looking unorganised at times which was very frustrating. The 2nd half began the same as the first with even posession and a physically strong game from both teams, with a couple of yellow cards being shown. We came out playing a lot better in the 2nd half following a formation change with paul going up front, and getting Max and Mitris into the game a lot more, with Paps and Fergie now having more space in the middle to try control the game from. Fabs came on for Mitris about 20 minutes into the half to add some extra run out wide and did well. The back four looked much stronger and more stable in the 2nd half and were back to their more dominant selves. Our 2nd goal came about 10 minutes from time following a quick throuw from Geordie to Paps, who played a long ball to Paul down the middle, who ended up finishing very smartly from the left side of the goals with the outside of his right foot from close range on a tight angle following a nice little one-two with Baard. 2-1!!! The goal came following about 10 minutes of strong Sacred heart pressure where we held out well and stayed disciplined, with Scotch having several close chances before that from both open play and a few free kicks we should have done better with. Overall it was an even game and one we should be estatic to get a result from considering it puts us very close to Sacred heart and Uni White now with a game in hand and several games coming up we should get results from. Well done for the fighting in the 2nd half and for the attitude and work rate change shown by everyone in the 2nd half. Another generally very solid performance shown by the back four starting most of the good plays going forward and for Chris especially with some effective forward runs and some very important hard challenges at crucial times of the game, a disciplined running effort from Mitris, Max and Fabs out wide with some great balls in throughout the 2nd half especially that forms the crux of our dangerous plays, Fergie again being hard working and creative in the middle of the park, with Baard and Paul creating chances up front with some grat running off of the ball and instinctive plays. Moving up the table now! Well done and most thoroughly deserved. In a generally convincing performance where we should have definitely put away many more chances especially in the opening 30 imnutes (no names mentioned Mr Nathan Pana!!!! haha :o) against a Sacred Heart team that was significantly undermanned with several new faces on the pitch. The final few weeks have been improving very well for us with a more confident team, especially now we are beginning to put away more goals. This is also considering today we again had several key players missing with injury, but with the crux of the team over the last few weeks still being there. The goal came about half way through the 2nd half from a penalty that was thumped away high into the net from the confident frenchman Mr Fabian!! Never looked like missing! Games of note go to Joshie and Quent especially for controlling the back line with authority and some good touches throughout the game, to Dayne for his creativity up front, Fabs for his dominance on the left, Chris for his dominance in the middle and for playing two games, and to Stewie for his classic shirt front of the opposition while still being in possession of the ball!!! :o) 3 votes: Fabian Moison 2 votes: Dayne McClure-Thomas 1 vote: Josh Millard
